Fieldtrip - Winterset, IA - John Wayne's Birth Place
Winter is here and Christmas seems to come quicker and quicker! Are you
taking a break from your lessons? Hopefully you aren't rushing around,
but enjoying the people around you. We've just had our 24th Homes Tour here
in Weston, Missouri. The weather is a little nippy, but not as cold as it has
been in previous years! For all the folks that took the opportunity to go on
the homes tour, it was a wonderful chance to get out and walk around Weston,
Missouri. Weston, Missouri is a very pleasant town.
The First Snow
If you get the opportunity, you should try to make Weston one of your field trips. At this time of the year, many of the older homes are decorated so beautifully. Several of the older homes in town have even been fixed up recently before falling to ruin. These older homes are getting a chance to shine again. Since we live here, I get a chance to go by these houses quite often. It is thrilling to see older houses being fixed up. These old homes have so much character! If any of you folks are like me, you just love the older houses. Some of these homes are anti-bellum homes. Imagine if these houses could talk, they'd certainly tell some stories! The next best thing to that is getting the chance to hear the stories from the folks who have lived here. During the homes tour this past weekend, was an opportunity for just that. I know the folks going on the homes tour got this opportunity and we did also. We had the chance to sing carols around town during the weekend. We sang songs about Santa, but we also really enjoyed singing songs about the Christ Child. As you folks know the reason we even celebrate Christmas is because of our Savior, Jesus! It's so important that we stress this with our children! There would not be a Christmas if God had not sent His Son to be the salvation for everyone who accepts Him and believes! So I hope all of us, including our family, can slow down and really think about what this time of the year is about anyway. Have a wonderful Christmas and a safe and warm New Year!
